Attorney Profile - David S. Aikenhead
David S. Aikenhead's focus of practice is estate planning and administration, real estate, and corporate and business law, including serving as general counsel to several non-profit trade associations in the travel and tourism, hotel and sports and entertainment industries. Mr. Aikenhead advises many family and closely held businesses, particularly in connection with formation, governance and succession planning, and handles all types of real estate sale and leasing transactions. He also serves as a private trustee for a number of client and non-client trusts and is listed on the California Statewide Registry of Private Conservators, Guardians and Trustees administered by the office of the California Attorney General. Mr. Aikenhead is a founding shareholder of Aikenhead, Cipes & Supanich.
For eight years, Mr. Aikenhead taught a second semester evening graduate division course under the title “The Business of Estates and Trusts – Preserving and Distributing Wealth” in the MBA curriculum of the Hilton Business School of Loyola Marymount University from 2003 through 2011, and has been a featured speaker at numerous Bar-sponsored seminars on real estate and office leasing, law office management, and estate planning. He is also active in many charitable activities and has served on the boards of several private schools and charitable foundations.
Mr. Aikenhead is a member of the California Bar Association (Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law and Real Property Sections), and the Los Angeles County Bar Association (Trusts & Estates Section). He is admitted to practice before all California State Courts, the United States District Court (Central and Northern Districts), and the United States Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit.
Mr. Aikenhead was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on March 28, 1946, and spent most of his youth in Oakmont, a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was educated at Bucknell University, from which he received an A.B. degree in Political Science. He received his J.D degree from University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review and of the Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity.
